This article was a statement in reference to the oncoming of the digital age and how old artists need to get with the program and alter their skills to satisfy an increasingly digital world. The subject of the article, a GIF made by a man named Michael Green and listed on eBay for $5,800. The GIF itself was in reference to one of Koons most popular works, a giant sculpture of a balloon dog, but instead visualized the dog deflating on a loop. This shift in air pressure is supposed to describe the shift of art from physical to digital. Green, the individual who made the GIF, describes modern day museums as being websites such as tumblr and the internet as a whole, claiming that physical museums are “dead”. Overall, this article is basically one large quote taken from Michael Green that describes his radical opinions of how art needs to change. Although there is definitely some truth behind what he is saying, I personally don’t know if society will ever be capable of letting go of physical art.
